Financial Disclosure Statement Notice

Wednesday, March 7, 2012

Pursuant to the “Board of Ethics and Government Accountability Establishment and Comprehensive Ethics Reform Emergency Act of 2012” (the “Emergency Ethics Act of 2012”or the “Act”), effective January 29, 2012, the Office of Campaign Finance is no longer responsible for the enforcement of the Financial Disclosure Program, which was administered in accordance with D.C. Official Code Section 1-1106.02 (b) (2001 Edition).

The Emergency Ethics Act of 2012 prescribes that the authority of the OCF to require the annual FDS filings on May 15th for the prior calendar year has been repealed. The Act establishes the District of Columbia Board of Ethics and Government Accountability, effective October 1, 2012, as the repository for the filing of public disclosure reports by public officials. The Act requires that the public report be filed before October 2nd of each year, commencing in 2012. We trust that the new Ethics Board will provide the public with additional information regarding the new requirements.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Wesley Williams, Public Affairs Manager, at (202) 671-0551 or [email protected].
