The primary goal of the Director of the Office of Campaign Finance is to achieve voluntary compliance with the Campaign Finance Act of 2011 through educational outreach. To foster this goal, the Agency offers several resources at its Web Site designed to increase the public’s understanding of the Campaign Finance Laws.
The Campaign Finance Guide and the Educational Brochures summarize the campaign finance laws and regulations for ease of access to information by the public. Further, guidance may be requested through requests for Interpretative Opinions to address the application of the campaign finance laws to a specific transaction; and previously published Interpretative Opinions may be sorted by subject and viewed for guidance.
Lastly, the campaign finance laws are administered by the Director pursuant to the regulations approved by the oversight Agency of the Office of Campaign Finance, the Board of Elections. The regulations may be found in Title 3, “Elections and Ethics”, of the District of Columbia Municipal Regulations, and accessible from this site.
