Investigation of the Committee to Re-elect Kwame R. Brown

Friday, June 10, 2011

Following the conclusion of its investigation, the DC Office of Campaign Finance (OCF) filed a complaint with the DC Board of Elections and Ethics today against the 2008 Committee to Re-Elect Kwame R. Brown (Committee). The Committee is charged, among other things, with failure to report 210 contributions totaling $102,763.00, failure to report 53 expenditures totaling $169,431.49, failure to amend its Statement of Organization to include a bank account and identify a signatory, and failure to substantiate $174,785.57 in expenditures, all of which are in violation of the DC Campaign Finance Reform and Conflict of Interest Act.

The OCF will present evidence of the violations to the Board, which is expected to schedule a hearing in the near future to determine the merits of the complaint.
