On January 31, 2015, the provisions of D.C. Law 20-79, the "Campaign Finance Reform and Transparency Amendment Act of 2013", became applicable. D.C. Law 20-79 mandates the online filing of all reports required to be filed with the Office of Campaign Finance under the Campaign Finance Act of 2011, as amended, provided that reasonable accommodations shall be made where actual hardship in complying with this requirement is demonstrated. To implement this new law, the Office of Campaign Finance (OCF) promulgated regulations regarding the mandatory electronic filing requirement.
Reporting entities must submit their filings electronically via this web-based system. This system allows for the direct online submission of financial reports, and automatically updates various OCF processes used for disclosure and the review of reports. These submissions are verified by OCF, stored, and made available to the public via the Internet.
